with Nicole Holbrook of Granddaughter Creative | Earthy Artwork & Soulful Teachings
Sundays & Mondays in July at The Fifth Om
In her practice, Nicole pairs the traditional guided yoga nidra meditation with gentle background tones of the quartz crystal singing bowl (432 hz, heart chakra). She also invites nature in by observing moon phases and honoring the seasons.
Yoga Nidra, or “yogic sleep,” is an extended savasana (resting pose with no movement involved) accompanied with a guided meditation. In this practice, yoga nidra can bring the body into a deeply relaxed state while the mind enters a sense of calm. The goal is to find that rested state just under the surface of awareness where you can remain conscious, but also access deep relaxation.
Each session is sequenced with the following:
a short introduction
mindful breathing to draw attention inward
intention setting
rotation of consciousness (guided mental body scan)
visualization
breath awareness
intention seeding
return to external awareness (waking up)
closing blessings
Please arrive at least 5 minutes early so that you have time to settle in to the space. Feel free to bring your own yoga mat, bolster, and/or yoga blanket if you choose. The space has some that may be used for additional support as you settle in for the session.
